Looking Back While Looking Forward!
Greetings In the Name of Jesus January 9, 2019
I am sitting in my office on Friday morning, checking e-mail and getting ready to head to Bismarck. This has been a good week. I have been a good boy, not lifting much or doing strenuous work. But I have tried to use my time wisely by preparing for my new series of sermons, and making some needed calls as well as spending some time visiting with some interesting people.
Getting back to my new series I am entitling it 40/50 days of Love, The reason for this is that I plan to have seven sermons, but will be gone one Sunday in February so it stretches the series out and will last for fifty day which will bring us to the season of Lent. Jesus said in Mark 12:29-31 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Everything you do must be done with love.” There is no more important thing for a Christian and a church to do than to understand how much God love us, but also how we are suppose to love Him, and one another, along with everyone who crosses our path. The first Sermon I will preach this Sunday is entitled “Let Love Be Your Aim” and will help us to have a better understanding of what Godly love is and how we are to love like that.
It is my prayer that you won’t think “I know all there is about love so I can stay home.” I believe that God wants each of our churches to become churches of love as never before.
Beyond that their have been some exciting things happening in both the churches. The Steele teen group is small but excited to grow and serve. Jonni and Tara have been doing a great job in leading them. The response we had to help teach Sunday School was phenomenal , thank you so much for responding. Our attendance in both churches has been good and both churches ended the year in good standing financially. Thanks for your giving. The ladies Bible Sturdy has started back up and are having a great time. Thanks Laura. I am amazed that each or our churches has so many talented musicians. Many churches our size are lucky to have one, make sure that you thank them regularly. I am also excited about getting our Web page up to date and looking forward to the face book up and running. There is so many blessings that it is hard to count all of them. On the other hand we also have some in need of our prayers. Sickness and other struggles will face all of us, but being part of a loving church helps us to bear the burdens.
Some of the things that I hope to get started in the days ahead is some Men’s Bible Studies in Steele, and a movie day in Tuttle. I also want the opportunity to visit with many of you and find out what you feel a burden for and connect you to serve God in the areas of your passion.
Well I could keep on going but I won’t. I just want to end by saying I love all of you, and it is my pleasure to serve you.
